The very severe cyclonic storm, VARDAH over westcentral and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal moved west-southwestwards during past 06 hrs with a speed of 18 kmph and lay centred at 1130 hrs IST of today, the 11th December, 2016 over westcentral and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal near Latitude 13.1ºN and Longitude 83.7ºE, about 420 km eastsoutheast of Nellore, 440 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam and 370 km east of Chennai. The system is very likely to move nearly west-southwestwards and weaken gradually from today evening onwards while moving towards north Tamilnadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast. It is very likely to cross north Tamilnadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast, close to Chennai as a cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 80 to 90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph by 12th December 2016 afternoon

வர்டாஹ் புயலானது மேலும் தீவிரமடைந்து மணிக்கு 18 கி.மீ., வேகத்தில் மேற்கு- தென்மேற்கு திசையை நோக்கி நகர்ந்து நெல்லூர் மற்றும் சென்னைக்கு கிழக்கே சுமார் 370 கிமீ., துரத்தில் மையம் கொண்டுள்ளது. இது மேலும் வலுபெற்று தென்மேற்கு திசையை நோக்கி நகர்ந்து சென்னைக்கும் தென் ஆந்திராவுக்கும் இடையே நாளை மதியம் அதாவது டிசம்பர் 12ஆம் தேதி கரையை கடக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.இதன் காரணமாக மிதமான மற்றும் கனமழையும் , காற்றின் வேகம் மணிக்கு 80 முதல் 90 கிலோ மீட்டர் வேகத்தில தென் ஆந்திரா ,தமிழ்நாடு (சென்னை காஞ்சிபுரம், திருவள்ளூர் ) மற்றும் புதுச்சேரி பகுதிகளில்வீசக்கூடும். கடல் அலை மிக சீற்றத்துடன் காணப்படும். கடல் நீரோட்டம் ஒரு செகண்டுக்கு 83-123 cm வேகத்தில் செல்லக்கூடும் . எனவே நாகப்பட்டினம் முதல் திருவள்ளுர் மாவட்டம் வரை உள்ள மீனவர்கள் தகுந்த பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ளுமாறு அறிவுறுத்தப்படுகிறார்கள்
